I keep on getting an error message when I log on, what does this mean?

First, double check you have an active Internet connection. If you don't, you may need to check with your IT team that there are no problems with your connectivity. This issue can also be caused by changes to your firewall so please check this too. If the problem persists however, please contact the Navman Wireless technical support team on 0845 456 1660 and we’ll do all that we can to help. Or, if you prefer click here to have us call you.

I am having difficulty downloading the software, what could be causing this?

It may be that your IT staff are blocking access – check with them to ensure that you have permission to access and install software. If access is allowed and you are still having problems, please contact our support team on 0845 456 1660 and we’ll do all that we can to help. Or, if you prefer click here to have us call you.

How accurate is GPS vehicle tracking technology?

There are a number of factors that can affect the accuracy of GPS such as tall buildings, trees and even atmospheric conditions. The position and type of antenna used can also have an effect on GPS performance. In ideal conditions, our tracking devices are accurate to within 5 metres.

How accurate is the over speed information?

Speed is calculated using GPS position readings and is determined using the distance travelled divided by the time taken to travel that distance. Whilst GPS speed measurement is usually more accurate than odometer speed readings as there is no wheel spin, tyre wear or corners to consider, issues can occur if there is an anomaly in the GPS signal received. We provide supplementary information such as the quality of the GPS fix to enable customers to have a high degree of confidence in over speed reporting, however where speeds seem strange or unusual, we recommend that you contact our support team for confirmation.

I can see my vehicle, but the mapping is not there, what could be causing this?

The mapping is provided by Microsoft and requires Java to work correctly – check with your IT support staff to ensure that you have the latest version of Java installed.  The mapping also requires access to Microsoft’s mapping servers, so your IT people will need to ensure that OnlineAVL has access to the Microsoft servers to retrieve mapping.  If access is allowed and you are still having problems, please contact our support team on 0845 456 1660 and we’ll do all that we can to help. Or, if you prefer click here to have us call you.

My tracking is working but I can’t run reports, what could be causing this?

OnlineAVL requires access to a number of different servers to work correctly. Please contact our support team to request a copy of our “OnlineAVL Connectivity Document”. Your IT people will be able to use this document to ensure that the necessary access is allowed.

How do I get my vehicle's tracking to work in Europe?

By default, your vehicles will track in the UK and Ireland. If you require updates in Europe, additional roaming charges may apply. Please contact our finance team on 01782 557950 and they will be able to confirm any additional charges or paperwork that may be required.

What are the minimum PC requirement to run the vehicle tracking system?

You won't need to invest in the latest computer to benefit from our system because all the clever stuff is managed by us. However you will need an in ternet connection and a PC with Modest abilities.

  •        Hardware:
    • 1 Ghz or higher pentium compatible CPU
    • At Least 256 megabytes (MB) of available RAM - more memory may improve responsiveness
    • 2GB of available Hard Disk space or more
    • A direct Internet connection minimum of 128kbs. 512kbps or high is recommended

    Software:

    • Microsoft Windows 7, Vista and  XP (Service Pack 2 and above)
    • Microsoft Internet Explorer Browser version 6 or later required
    • Microsoft .Net 2.5

    • Note:
OnlineAVL2 is not supported on other Windows based operating systems

How much bandwidth is vehicle tracking going to use?

There’s no standard figure for how much bandwidth OnlineAVL will use. There are a number of factors that will affect this such as:

    • Number of vehicles on the fleet
    • The number of users of OnlineAVL in your company
    • The number and frequency of reports run
    • The frequency of map refresh and searches
    • The update rate of your vehicles

We recommend that customers download a trial version of the OnlineAVL software and have their IT support perform testing on usage based on how the application will be utilised by staff in order to give a more accurate representation of usage. As a general rule, the more bandwidth that can be made available, the greater the performance of the application.

What warranty can I expect with your tracking system?

Please see full warranty terms and conditions which are available here on our website.
